Naujasis Nevezis, a private limited liability company, was founded in 1991 in Kaunas, the second largest city of Lithuania. After having gained extensive knowledge in organizing, technologies and equipment of cereal production, the company’s specialists have elaborated the manufacture programme of cereal products. In response to growing market demands, the company constantly modernises manufacturing equipment, invests in new technologies, expands the space of storehouses and workshops and establishes new jobs. It employs only qualified staff at all of its departments, which ensures urgent response to the current needs of customers as well as the growth of its competitive capacity. The company implements the system of food security quality assurance HACCP. It covers secure environment, quality raw materials, adequate storage and transportation of the finished produce. At the start of 2005, Naujasis Nevėžis was granted the quality management system certificate ISO 9001 and the environmental management system certificate ISO 14001. In 2007 the company was awarded certificates for two organic products. In October 2008 Naujasis Nevėžis implemented a quality management system according to EN ISO 22000:2005, which specifies requirements for a food safety management system. Naujasis Nevėžis operates in a food chain and needs to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption.
