Grupo Ramos

Founded in 1965 by Roman Ramos Uria, Grupo Ramos is a leading retail company operating through its brands Sirena, Super Pola and Aprezio. Its headquarters is based in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic. Taking into consideration the changing needs of the market, Grupo Ramos started its real estate business by opening regional shopping centres. 

Grupo Ramos operates 71 stores under the following banners: 

• La Sirena: a chain of multi-centres that offer everything from food, fashion and products for the house. There are 26 La Sirena Multi-centers and 5 Sirena markets currently.
• Super Pola: a chain of supermarkets which launched in 1983. There are 3 stores operating in the country.
• Aprezio: a group of 34 discount stores and 1 Gran Aprezio store which offers food and bazaar items. 
• Multiplaza: 2 shopping centres.

It is noteworthy that the business achieves an annual turnover of € 2.7 billion and employs more than 9,000 people. 

Moreover, the firm offers a variety of products in the following categories: 

• Savoury grocery: pastas, oils, canned goods, etc. 
• Sweet grocery: bread, sugar, chocolates, etc.  
• Dairy: cheese, milk, butter, etc. 
• Frozen: vegetables, seafood, meat, etc. 
• Chilled & fresh: sausages, fruits, vegetables, etc.  
• Drinks: juices, water, soft drinks, etc. 
• Wine & spirits: beers, wines, spirits, etc. 
• Household: detergents, dishwashing liquids, toilet papers, etc. 
• Personal care: shampoo, body wash, moisturisers, etc. 

Grupo Ramos developed its own brands as well which are as follows (non-exhaustive list): 

• First class: it consists of products such as sausages, pastas, dairy, etc. 
• Good Oven: it is dedicated to bakery and pastry products. 
• Master cut: a line of meat products. 

In addition to this, the business also operates a bakery plant where it manufactures deep-frozen and pre-baked bread, artisanal pastries and fresh desserts. 

Furthermore, Grupo Ramos maintains the highest quality standards as it is the first company in the retail sector in the Dominican Republic to achieve the AEO certification. 

Pertaining to its logistics solutions, Grupo Ramos operates 4 distribution centres. 

Concerning sustainability, the company partnered with Escala Solar to install solar systems on the rooftops of La Sirena supermarkets in order to use renewable energy as a power source.
