Rite Aid
Founded in 1962, Rite Aid is a chain of drugstores that opened its first store in Pennsylvania in the US. Launched by Alex Grass, Rite Aid used to operate under the name Thrift D Discount Center. Nowadays Rite Aid operates 2464 stores countrywide, making it the largest drugstore chain on the East Coast and the third largest countrywide. Rite Aid also operates an online store.
Rite Aid expanded by taking over several businesses including Gray Drug, Peoples Drug’s, Thrifty PayLess, etc.
1858 Eckerd Pharmacy and Brooks Pharmacy stores were acquired by Rite Aid in 2007. 1932 Rite Aid locations and 3 distribution centers were sold to Walgreens in 2018.
A loyalty card named Wellness+ BonusCash was launched by Rite Aid in 2018, where customers can benefit from various discounts and advantages while shopping at Rite Aid.
In 2021, Rite Aid reached a turnover of €13.9 billion, up by 4.8% compared to 2020, and employed 53 100 people in 2019.
Furthermore, Rite Aid achieved the 150th position in the 2020 Fortune 500 list of the largest United States corporations by total revenue.
