Shufersal is the largest supermarket chain in Israel and was founded in 1958. The firm started operating its first store in Tel Aviv. This was the first modern supermarket in the country. Nowadays, Shufersal has a market share of 25% and it is part of the Shufersal Group.

Nowadays, the company consists of 378 stores and an online shop as well as a mobile application. Shufersal welcomes around 2 million clients each week.

In addition to this, the company also owns 83 BE drugstores since 2017. 

The business employs 16 734 people and in 2021, Shufersal achieved a turnover of €4.18 billion and the firm has set up a loyalty club which has 1.9 million customers.

Shufersal works with more than 1300 brands who supply the company with products for its various categories which include:

• Personal Care: makeup, fragrances, skin care, face care, oral care, etc.
• Household: cleansers, bleach, softeners, etc.
• Dairy: Cheese, eggs, milk, butter, etc. 
• Drinks: Wine, Vodka, Whiskey, Soft drinks, etc.
• Chilled & Fresh Foods: beef, chicken, fish, sausages, etc.
• Frozen Foods: sausages, meat, chicken, fish, etc.
• Sweet Grocery: cereals, biscuits,snacks, etc.
• Savory Grocery: spices, tortillas, bread crumbs, flour, etc.

Many of the firm’s suppliers are small businesses.

Shufersal also offers organic products and also provides products under its private label. These items are of excellent quality and are sold at low prices. 

In the finance sector, Shufersal entered a partnership with Leumi Card in order to start a credit card business. The company now has around 56 5000 customers. In 2018, Shufersal decided to partner with CAL instead of Leumi Card. 

Shufersal Real Estate manages commercial centers, offices and real estate properties for the group.

In the B2B sector, the group works with online businesses such as Microsoft and Ebay and also works with commercial companies, financial companies, associations and educational institutions.

Furthermore, the company also owns Gidron Industries which produces bakery products such as sweet and savory pastries as well as gluten-free products. Its factories are in line with ISO 22000, ISO 9001-2008 and HACCP. The clients include bakeries, hotels, cafes and restaurants. 

Shufersal also entered the online sector by launching its e-commerce platform, Shufersal Online, which is now recognised as the largest platform in Israel.

It also created American Outlets, another online shop which allows Israeli customers to order products from the US. 

The group also ventured in the travel business in 2018 by launching Shufersal Travel. 

Concerning the logistics, all products are stored in proper conditions and the company ensures that the cooling system meets the norms. The business manages several shipping centres and has plans to develop additional ones.
