Sigma Alimentos is a wholesaler and distributor of refrigerated packaged food which was established in 1980 and is headquartered in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico. The firm is part of the Mexican company, Grupo Alfa. The company is known as a leading player in the refrigerated food market which operates in 18 countries.
Furthermore, Sigma Alimentos expanded over the years by acquiring various businesses including cheese manufacturers and packaged meat companies such as San Antonio, Tangamanga, Chen, Supemsa, etc.
The company distributes its products to over 645 000 points of sales across different channels such as e-commerce platforms and food service businesses. In 2019, the business sold around 1.8 million tons of food.

Furthermore, Sigma Alimentos operates a total of 70 manufacturing plants, 60 of which hold the GFSI CERTIFICATION. Its facilities situated in Peru are equipped with hydroelectric generation and wind power to ensure 100% renewable energy is being used.
Concerning its packaging, Sigma Alimentos has started to reduce plastic in its packages and is now opting for reusable, recyclable and replaceable solutions. In 2019, it reduced its use of plastic by over 4700 tons. At present, 104 plants run using cleaner energy, reducing 100 000 tons of CO2 in a year.
Additionally, Sigma Alimentos follows the UN SDGs. In 2020, the firm managed to reduce 540 tons of virgin plastic.
