Sklavenitis is Greece's largest supermarket chain, operating primarily in Greece with a significant presence in Cyprus. Founded in 1954 by brothers Yiannis and Spyros Sklavenitis as a wholesale business in Athens, it has grown into the market leader through strategic acquisitions and expansions.

The company achieved its dominant position in 2017 by acquiring the Marinopoulos Group, surpassing competitors like Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos. It operates hundreds of stores across Greece, offering a wide range of products including fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, dairy, beverages, bakery items, and consumer goods focused on food, drinks, and household essentials.

In financial year 2023, Sklavenitis reported sales of €5.16 billion, with €4.3 billion from its Greek operations, and pre-tax profits of €135.4 million. The retailer employs over 31,400 people in Greece and invests heavily in infrastructure, including new stores, renovations, logistics, and digital transformation.

Headquartered in Peristeri, Athens, Sklavenitis maintains modern facilities like 30,000 m² warehouses in Elefsina and plans a new 125,000 m² distribution centre in Attica. It supports employees with wage increases, five-day contracts, and community initiatives like scholarships.
