SPC
SPC Group is a South Korean company that englobes and represents different subsidiary companies in the Food, Raw Material, IT/Service and distribution sectors. The Group is recognised as one of the oldest brands in the confectionery and baking industry in Korea and was founded in 1945 under the name Samlip General Food.
In the food sector, Samlip General Food is one of the company’s subsidiaries and has brought in various brands to the Korean and international markets. Over time, it has played a key role in developing the bakery industry. Samlip General Food Co. Ltd has diversified its activities and entered the restaurant franchising market and now aims to become the leading food and biotech company in the world.
In 1986 Paris Croissant was launched with the aim of bringing European Bakery culture to the Korean market. Two years later Paris Croissant created Paris Baguette, a bakery that operates as a franchise and it quickly became a leading bakery café franchise in Korea. Paris Baguette currently has 3816 shops across the globe. There are 3416 in South Korea, 297 shops in China, 76 in the USA, 14 in Vietnam, 11 in Singapore and 2 in France. SPC Group aims to become the leading bakery chain in the world by 2020.
The group has formed a joint venture known as BR Korea with Dunkin’ Brands, Inc. Through this new subsidiary, SPC Group entered the premium ice-cream market in Korea with the brand Baskin Robbins and the donut market with Dunkin’ Donuts. BR Korea now runs 1375 Baskin Robbins and 683 Dunkin’ Donuts stores.

The Group also runs a wine importing company known as Tiger International in Korea. The company currently has two brands: Tiger International and The World Vine.
In 2018, SPC Group achieved a turnover of € 4.9 billion which indicates a growth of 1.9% in revenue compared to 2017.
Furthermore, in 2005, SPC Group launched the SPC Research Institute of Food and BioTechnology in order to carry on research on the bakery and confectionary industry and bring in new technology in product development and quality control. In 2009, the company launched the SPC Agro-Bio Science Institute at Seoul National University.
In 2016, SPC along with Seoul National University discovered Native Yeast on which they hold patent rights. They have introduced the technology in the US and China and plan to extend it to other countries.
More than 300 experts work in the research centres.

SPC has announced that it will be investing € 2.1 billion in research and development in the future.
SPC is also focusing on producing more eco-friendly products such as organic milk in Korea. The company is also using recycled materials in its restaurants.
