Established by Heinrich Georg Franz Stockmann in 1862, Stockmann is a Finnish and international retailer of food, clothing and home products. Its headquarters is based in Helsinki, Finland. The company has its operations in Finland, Latvia, Estonia and Russia.
Currently, the business operates 8 department stores and an e-commerce platform as well. Moreover, Stockmann owns a Swedish fashion chain, Lindex which has 441 stores in 19 countries and an online store in the EU and Norway.
In the financial year 2021, Stockmann achieved a turnover of € 899 millions and presently employs 5,649 people.
Furthermore, the enterprise offers a variety of products in the following categories:
- Personal care: makeup, perfumes, shampoo, etc.
- Household: detergents, candles, fragrances, etc.
- Savoury grocery: canned goods, pasta, oils, etc.

- Bogi: A brand dedicated to kids.

Pertaining to its logistics solutions, the retailer operates its own distribution centres and partners with Matkahuolto’s home delivery service to expand its delivery options.
Additionally, the company partnered with ZetaDisplay since 2013 in order to implement digital solutions in its stores with the aim of reducing the use of different communication media such as printed materials.
Furthermore, the firm left Russia in 2018 by selling its Nevsky shopping centre. Recently, in January 2022, Stockmann sold its malls in Estonia and Latvia as well to the investment arm of Viru Keemia Grupp (VKG).
As of February 2022, the group posted a rise in 4th quarter earnings and announced that it expects the development to continue further. In the same year, Stockmann reported that it will be strengthening the implementation of its strategy with a new, more customer-centric organisation and by appointing new key personnel.
Concerning sustainability, Stockmann protects the environment by reducing the use of plastic and the plastic is collected in all department stores in Finland which is directed for recycling.
