SUMOL+COMPAL is a company with a youthful and dynamic spirit whose beginnings date back to 1945. Since then, we have accumulated experience and knowledge and we have developed and applied new technologies to the creative process in order to construct a history full of success stories. The quality and naturalness of our products, our ability to innovate and differentiate, and our close links to nature and nutritional benefits are an integral part of our business heritage.

We have a regular market presence in over 70 countries and, as a result of our constant focus on investment, we are continuing to grow at a steady pace in international markets (between 2009 and 2016, our business outside Portugal grew by over 90%). 

SUMOL+COMPAL has one of the largest beverages operations in Portugal, with four production plants located in Almeirim, Pombal, Gouveia and Vila Flor. At the latter two, water is bottled for the ÁGUA SERRA DA ESTRELA and FRIZE brands, respectively. In May 2013, we officially inaugurated the Boane plant in Mozambique, our first outside Portugal. Its goal is to produce and commercialise our brands in this Portuguese-speaking country and in neighbouring countries belonging to the Southern African Development Community (SADC). In the third quarter of 2015, our Bom Jesus plant in Angola on the outskirts of Luanda began producing COMPAL-branded juices and nectars, followed by SUMOL in the second quarter of 2016.
