Uber Eats

A subsidiary of Uber, Uber Eats is a food delivery business based in the US. In 2014, the food delivery company was launched under the name Uber Fresh and after a year, it was renamed as Uber Eats. 

Customers can use the website or application to go through the food service businesses and stores working with Uber Eats and place their orders. Delivery persons will pick up the orders and deliver to the customers. 

Presently, around 60000 businesses in the retail and food service sectors in the world collaborate with Uber Eats.

Uber Eats is present in around 32 countries that include France, Australia, Hong Kong, UK,etc. quickly emerging as the number 1 food delivery company in many of them.

One of the latest innovations of Uber Eats is that it offers a dine-in option in select restaurants in the US. Clients can order their meals in advance through the application and come to eat at the restaurant.

In 2020, Uber Eats achieved a turnover of € 1.21 billion, indicating a rise of 103 % compared to 2019. The increase is mainly due to the covid 19 pandemic.

Uber Eats charges a delivery fee based on the distance traveled by the delivery person. Restaurants, on the other hand, are charged a commission. 

It was recently announced that some deliveries in the US will be carried out by drones.
