Vicente Faria Vinhos

The history of Vicente Faria Vinhos dates back to the 18th century when the Douro Wine Region was first demarcated. Vicente Faria comes from one of the pioneering winemaking families of the Douro Valley, producing everything from the renowned Port Wine to a diverse range of exceptional wines.

Growing up on the slopes of the Douro, Vicente learned the art of winemaking from his grandfather, dedicating his academic and professional life to perfecting his craft.

A strong advocate for responsible viticulture, he upholds carefully controlled production methods and embraces sustainable farming practices, ensuring that tradition and terroir are preserved in the world’s oldest demarcated wine region.

Sustainability is one of our core pillars. From the very beginning, we have implemented sustainable farming practices in our vineyards and are now in the final phase of certifying all our Quinta Vale Santa Luzia vineyard as organic. We use only sulfur treatments, avoiding pesticides and other chemicals entirely in the estate's vineyard. In our winery, we strive to keep the winemaking and storage processes as natural as possible, minimizing the use of sulfites to preserve the purity of our wines. When it comes to bottling, packaging, and logistics, we continuously work to reduce our carbon footprint. For instance, we prioritize lighter-weight bottles and explore alternative packaging solutions to lessen our environmental impact. Additionally, all our packaging, labels, and cardboard materials are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, ensuring they come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.
