Grattachecca is a popular cold dessert originating in Rome made with grated ice, syrups and pieces of freshfruit added on the top. Grattachecca quickly became a popular “street food”, eaten during the summer days and warm evenings in Rome. Nowadays,it is still hand-prepared and served in the historic kiosks around the city or on the beaches near Rome.
