Berliners

The Berliner is known worldwide as a very popular pastry, and recognized as such under many different names, e.g. as bola de Berlim in Portugal, Pfannkuchen in Berlin (!), Krapfen in Austria, and so on. It used to be eaten traditionally on New Year’s Eve or around carnival, but today it is a much appreciated delicacy all year long, and especially during summer on the beaches.
