Flounder

Flounder - Although the eyes of the flounder are on the right side of its body, the fish is still a member of the plaice family. Turbot however, where the eyes are like plaice at the left side of the body, are belonging to the flounder family. Where flounder can grow up to about 60 cm we can hardly find flounder bigger than 30 cm. The fish eats worms, shrimp and all kinds of smaller shellfish. Flounder can only eat soft seafood, where as plaice has strong teeth to eat hard shelves. Flounder is laying in the mud or sand during day light and at night the fish moves to shallow water for hunting.
