Sesame
Sesame is an oil seed with a rich nutty flavour produced from Sesame Indicum. Sesame is thought to be one of the oldest oilseeds known to mankind, and is used for either oil extraction or for direct consumption as an ingredient in many cuisines. Sesame oil is very stable and has a long shelf life due to the presence of natural antioxidants, and is an omega-6 –rich oil used in cooking, in margarines and as a salad oil. Sesame meal, the residue remaining after oil extraction, is an excellent high protein feed for poultry and livestock.
