Superthene Polyethylene (PE) food wrap
Superthene films have been perfected after years of research and development to offer the food wrapping market a healthier to use, and more environmentally friendly alternative to PVC cling wraps.
Healthier – Typical PVC cling wraps have plasticizer content of approximately 35% of their total mass.
These plasticizers migrate into foodstuffs such as meat, chicken and cheese – this migration is accelerated radically by the use of microvave ovens. Superthene contains no plasticizers – in fact Superthene has a total additive content of less than 2%.
More environmentally friendly – Not one kilogram of the estimated monthly consumption of 1500 tons of PVC cling wrap consumed each month in SA is recycled. Polyethylene is, by far the most recycled polymer in the world and in SA a significant portion of recycled PE is from post-consumer waste.
Superthene is fully recyclable.
Superthene is developed with a polyolefin polymer based formulation that is processed in such a manner as to overcome the traditional drawbacks of polyethylene clingwrap.
