Carrefour Jordan

Carrefour Jordan was a leading supermarket and hypermarket chain operating under the Carrefour brand in Jordan, managed by Majid Al Futtaim, the franchisee responsible for Carrefour operations across the Middle East. The company offered a wide range of products, including fresh produce, packaged foods, household items, electronics, and clothing, catering to diverse customer preferences with both local and international brands. Their stores incorporated multiple retail formats including hypermarkets, supermarkets, and convenience stores. 

In November 2024, Carrefour Jordan ceased all operations across its 34 stores, a move announced publicly and linked to heightened boycott campaigns in Jordan particularly related to pro-Israel sentiments. Majid Al Futtaim decided to suspend the Carrefour brand in Jordan and replace it with a new grocery retail brand called Hypermax, positioning it as a "brand-new Arab grocery chain" focused on meeting the preference of Jordanian customers for locally sourced products. 

Hypermax continues to offer both in-store and online shopping services, featuring competitive prices, high-quality products, loyalty programs, and promotions tailored for individuals and families across Jordan. The rebranding effort aims to adapt to evolving market dynamics and strengthen the connection with local consumers while maintaining a presence in the grocery sector.
