In 1974, the company founder started his activities in the pet food sector. His main concern was to secure quality raw materials for the production of natural dog chews. He actually achieved this by collecting animal by-products (Tripe, food pipe, pig ears) from slaughterhouses, which he afterwards processed and dried at his local estate into dog chews. In 1998, he decided together with his partner, to manufacture Semi-Moist products in a wide variety of shapes and tastes and to bring his operations in to line with the European standards in a new facility. In 2011, the family took over the friGERA AG company, which was founded in 1987 and had mainly been active on the German market until then. With this new structure, he entered the European and Asian markets, assisted by his sons and long-standing employees. friGERA is now part of a group that consists out of more than six companies, which still belong to the founding family and is active in more than 16 countries worldwide.
