Metro AEBE (METRO ΑΕΒΕ) is a leading 100%-Greek-owned retail and wholesale group headquartered in Metamorfosi, Athens, founded in 1976 as a partnership of independent grocery wholesalers. It has grown into one of Greece's largest food and household product distributors, operating three complementary store banners.

My market and My market Local (the latter a franchise concept launched in 2021) form the group's supermarket network, together comprising more than 300 points of sale across Greece, offering everyday groceries, fresh produce, dairy, beverages, household essentials and beauty products to retail consumers, with a strong emphasis on partnerships with Greek producers and suppliers.

METRO Cash & Carry operates around 50 wholesale outlets nationwide, serving professional customers such as independent retailers, caterers and HoReCa businesses with bulk food, beverages, household and personal-care assortments; the chain holds close to 50% market share in Greece's organised wholesale sector and also runs a dedicated B2B e-shop launched in 2022.

The group has expanded internationally through BEST VALUE ΓΙΑ ΕΠΑΓΓΕΛΜΑΤΙΕΣ, a Cyprus-based cash-and-carry subsidiary launched in 2020 targeting resale and HoReCa professionals.

Metro AEBE employs more than 11,000 people, making it one of the largest private-sector employers in Greece. The group reported consolidated net sales of approximately €1.62 billion in 2024 (up 1.9% year-on-year from €1.59 billion in 2023), with EBITDA of €75 million, and continues an active expansion and investment plan across its supermarket and wholesale networks. As both a large-scale grocery retailer and a dominant cash-and-carry wholesaler, Metro AEBE represents a key route-to-market for FMCG manufacturers seeking distribution across Greek retail, foodservice and hospitality channels.
