The inception of the Dr. Jacobs Naturals brand actually stemmed from our oldest son. He was having issues with eczema and we could not find an all-natural soap that was sensitive enough for his skin, while soothing his mind.
We live and breathe our mission every day, by incorporating healthy choices into our work. Each year I go on a 180-mile bike ride to raise money for Camp Simcha, a remarkable overnight camp that provides seriously ill children with a vacation from sickness, restoring their spirits and renewing their determination to fight their illness.
With this belief of clean living, we began researching soaps that were healthy for the most sensitive skin, while creating holistic benefits for your mind and soul. We found that Castile soaps were wonderful for sensitive skin, but it took us researching about Dr. Jacobs, the Swiss Chemist who perfect the Castilian tradition of making Jabon de Castilla or Castile soap, to understand how to create the most natural of these soaps with the skin and aromatic characteristics in mind.All of the Dr. Jacobs Naturals Castile Soaps are 100% vegetable based (never any animal by products) and made from the highest quality natural and organic ingredients like olive and coconut oil, never palm oil, which is known for being harsh on your skin. Antioxidant rich olive and coconut oil have the ability to naturally moisturize your skin, keeping it hydrated all day with no oily residue. We also added aloe vera and Vitamin E to enhance the moisture experience.
Keeping the sense of touch and the skin in mind, we wanted to create a luxurious feeling Castile soap, so we increased the viscosity two fold by adding the most natural of ingredients, sea salt, and never adding any foaming agents. Keeping true to putting health first, none of our products ever contain any toxins like parabens, preservatives, phthalates, artificial dyes, or artificial fragrances. They are gluten free, cruelty-free, vegan, made in the USA, and Non-GMO Project Certified.
Lastly, we wanted to holistically care for people on the inside as well as the outside, so essential oils with health and wellness properties were added. Through aromatherapy and skin absorption essential oils are known for healing properties and health benefits.

In 2015, I, Maurício Ortega, have assumed as the new owner, while my brother decided to follow other professional endeavours. Since then, I have successfully introduced several “lean manufacturing” concepts to the company, such as people involvement, standardization, built-in quality, short lead time and continuous improvement. In the following year (2016), my wife Silvana Bhering, has joined me as a company partner and today we lead the Brazilian market in the distribution of personal oil diffuser diffusers.
