Founded in 1953 by Karl Wlaschek as a discount perfumery chain, Billa transitioned into food retailing and became Austria's first self-service supermarket chain in 1962. It caters to both B2C and B2B customers through in-store shopping, an online shop with Click & Collect services—pioneering domestic online food retailing—and participation in the jö Bonus Club loyalty program since 2019, Austria's largest multipartner scheme.
