HEJ, it’s us.
HEJ ORGANIC was founded in Dortmund in 2016. But the idea was born even earlier. Inspired by travels through America, Scandinavia and Asia, we picked up on the trend of combining sustainable products with design. Until then, natural cosmetics was uninspired and boring. Together with designer friends, we worked on the logo, slogan and a unique product design: The tapered bottle is the trademark of HEJ ORGANIC. The history of the Vergani Panettone is our family history: for four generations, we have preserved the values and traditions that have made Vergani an excellent brand in Italy and abroad. Nelson Honey draws on three generations of beekeeping and honey production experience to offer the best New Zealand bee products.
Formed in 1973, family-owned company Nelson Honey & Marketing (NZ) Ltd is owned and operated by Philip Cropp. Philip’s grandfather started producing honey from hives in the Nelson area as a side business to his fruit orchard more than 100 years ago.
Over the past four decades the company has grown substantially in terms of production volume, international exports and product diversification. From a one-man apiary producing a small selection of honeys in Motupiko, 50kms south of Nelson city, Nelson Honey in conjunction with our sister company Rainbow Honey Ltd, we now have well over 8,000 hives sited throughout pristine wilderness areas in the Top of the South and along the West Coast of New Zealand.
Philip was the first in his industry to combine Manuka Honey with Bee Venom, following requests from a farmer down the road who suffered from arthritis. After considerable testing to establish the right balance between Manuka Honey and Bee Venom he launched a product named Nectar Ease, which is also known as the ‘aches and pains honey’ as it may assist people who suffer from sore joints, arthritis and related problems.
Business grew steadily following the launch of Nectar Ease, until early 2010 Philip started experimenting with a skincare range that would combine the health benefits of Nectar Ease with the wellness benefits of skincare. He figured if the combination of Manuka Honey and Bee Venom supported cortisone production in the body, it could do a lot of good used on people’s skin too and this was how Royal Nectar Skincare was born.

“It was in 2009 when I decided to start researching what possibilities there are to start producing beauty products from Estonian peat. I quickly learned that in Estonia peat is widely used to create calorific value and to produce fertilizer. But when it came to cosmetic purposes, no one had attempted to deal with the subject in depth. Here and there you might hear that someone had tried to do, test or research something. There was no summary research that could have resulted in the production of a product for consumers. Thus I started collecting materials about the peat that was used for cosmetic purposes and its properties and effects. When it came to information that we could not find, we conducted experiments in cooperation with the University of Tartu and the Tallinn University of Technology to identify which problems and conditions peat heals and alleviates. Every new answer gave us more motivation to reach the final product. During the process it became clear that peat is a temperamental raw material. It works well enough when it is alone, but when we wanted to make it work with other components in order to produce more versatile beauty products, the results were subpar. In the end we realized that the only way to “tame” peat is to develop a methodology that would give us a raw material that would allow us to achieve equivalent results in the production of the final product. We started an extensive development process that resulted in a technology that allowed us to filter peat. This result gave us pure, 100% organic and stable peat with a rich composition which is now used to make all Aesti beauty products.”
