Victor Dravigny Collection The only signature collection of Abrau-Durso Russian Winehouse was named after the great French champagne maker Victor Dravigny. In 1905, he was appointed to the position of chief oenologist of Abrau-Durso Estate. It was him who perfected the classic sparkling wine making method. Under his management, Abrau-Durso became the supplier to the Royal Court of Nicholas II and started exporting the wines. We are especially proud to present our Imperial Collection comprised of some of the most highly awarded Russian wines. This collectors’ sparkling wine is made in accordance with the French Grand Cru traditions from grapes harvested in Abrau-Durso. For the wines from the Alexander II Collection, cuvée, i. e. the mother juice of selected grapes, is used. The wine is aged in bottles in the rock tunnels for at least four years in accordance with French champagne making technologies. The Alexander II wines have received dozens of awards at prestigious international competitions.

These wines are made from grapes growing at the best vineyards of Abrau-Durso and have a protected designation of origin. The terroir of Abrau-Durso has some special qualities, including a special wind pattern: the wind carries to the vineyards the aromas of herbs growing in the foothills of the Caucasus, salty notes of Black Sea and freshness of Lake Abrau. Marly limestone soils and a soft climate are also important parts of the terroir. All these factors create unique conditions for the grapes to grow and ripen. The style of the label reminds of Abrau-Durso still wines made at the end of the 19. century. As it was customary back then, each bottle has been numbered. The wines from this limited collection were first presented at the 8th Russian Winemakers’ Summit within Russian Winegrowers and Winemakers Association’s Cup 2018, were they were highly appreciated by the International Tasting Jury.

Blended wines became particularly popular in the middle of the 20. century. They are made from several grape varieties complimenting each other, which makes the wine’s taste and aroma richer and more full-bodied.

Dur-so means «Four Waters» in Turkiс dialects. According to a legend, Lake Abrau that now hosts a resort, vineyards and the famous winery with rock tunnels, originates from four springs. The water for the Dur-so 4 Waters collection originates in the foothills of North Caucasus. The spring is located near Durso marine harbour. According to microbiological research, the local artesian water is enriched by micro elements: magnesium, calcium, potassium and sodium, is very soft and pleasingly refreshing.

Produced using the picual and arbequina varietals, its name is a homage to these majestic birds which, only in special circumstances, choose to nest in trees as they have done in our Estate.

Using selected batches of these very early harvesting olives and making an independent extraction of these monovarietals, this oil of extraordinary quality is obtained.
