Mlékárna Hlinsko dairy was founded in 1939 and production there started in 1943. In the first year of its operation the dairy processed two million liters of raw milk which were used to produce powdered milk, condensed milk, butter and dried buttermilk.
After 70 years of its operation it handles nearly 200 million liters of milk per year and its production program was expanded to include long-life milk and cream, ice cream and crushed ice.
In 1947 the company performed and carried out its first exports of the products. The dairy currently exports to more than 25-countries arround the world.
Since 1964 the products are available on the market under the corporated brand Tatra, which has been used since that on. Polabske Mlekarny , a.s. with the seat in the spa town of Poděbrady is the Czech dairy oriented to production of fresh curd cheese (quark) and curd cheese specialities under the brand Milko.
Every day we buy the milk from Czech farmers. The milk is processed till the other day into our basic product – fresh curd cheese. Portfolio of our products starts with traditional basic white curds, which find their place in each kitchen for preparation of large scale of sweet and salty foods. Favourite curd desserts are aimed not only to customers who have a „sweet tooth“ but also to those who care about healthy nutrition.
Among our curd cheese desserts there belong famous brands like TERMIX, the tradition of which started in 1976, TVAROHÁČEK, healthy and playful snack for children, fruit curd dessert OVOFIT suitable also for diabetics, portfolio of fruit and sweet flavoured curds MILKO and light snack of vegetable curd SVAČINKA.
POLABSKÉ dairy is also engaged in production of BIO/organic food. Our Bio curd with yoghurt with probiotic culture MATYLDA belongs among the most successful Bio products. It is also the first fresh dairy Bio product intended mainly for children.
Bio also represent a number of natural and fruit curds, Bio butter, Bio sour cream, Bio fresh creamy cheese Mandava, Bio edam cheese Mandava and many other specialities in Bio quality, like Burrata, fresh Pastural cheese,…
These cheese specialities are produced in our second plant Varnsdorf at the foot of Lužice mountains close to the Czech Switzerland National Park adjacent to the Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany.
Basic products (fresh curd cheese, sour cream, whipping cream) are also produced in bulk gastro packaging – buckets and containers.
