WINEMAKING Produced with grapes from clay soils on well-drained slopes, this wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks with at the controlled temperature of 24 ºC

TASTING NOTES Pomegranate coloured wine, with aromas of red fruits. In the palate is smooth and rounded with balanced acidity, finishing with ripe and elegant tannins.

The Needle Story

A classical Gin carries a bit of British, Dutch, Spanish and, of course, German history. The convincing and unique taste of a Black Forest Gin, like Needle, is not only the combination of classic Gins, but also the love given by the Black Forest master distillers.

Needle is the special Black Forest experience. The logo reflects the so-called “common spruce” (Picea abies), which gives the Needle a special touch and distinctive aroma. During a walk in the beautiful Black Forest of Baden, it is this unique smell of spruce needles that makes a day recreative and exciting and at the same time. It’s precisely this experience that is revealed to the connoisseur when removing the real wood cork of the Needle and when getting spoiled with 10 impressive Botanicals.

The green pharmacy bottle conceals a distillate based on aromatic juniper berries. Besides flowery lavender in accordance with the typical pungency of ginger characterize the taste. Furthermore the Needle indulges with a citrus note of sun-ripened lemons and oranges of best quality. A touch of orient is attached by the addition of pimento and cinnamon.

But it’s the hand-picked spruce needles, which give the Needle his name and unmistakable character.

In order to experience the Black Forest and its full-bodied uniqueness, we carefully distille our Needle beside aromatic juniper berries with hand-picked spruce needles of the "common spruce" (Picea abies). Through the inclusion of flowery lavender and typical pungency of ginger, the taste buds experience an intense adventure. This moment is emphasized by a fine citrus note of sun-ripened lemons and oranges of best quality. A touch of orient is added to our 40% vol. distillate by the addition of pimento and cinnamon as well.

WOOD STORK is made in the Black Forest, and this is how we do it:

All rum is based on cane sugar. The cane for the WOOD STORK Spiced Rum comes from South America. After the harvest, the sugar cane is put through several centrifuges to release the sugar crystals. What remains is molasses. This thick, sticky mass contains enough sugar to make alcohol.

The sugar cane molasses are the basic ingredient of our WOOD STORK rum. On arrival in the Black Forest, the molasses is combined with yeast and enzymes to convert the sugar in the molasses into alcohol. This process is called fermentation. After fermentation, the alcohol is distilled in Black Forest copper stills. The pot still process traps all the intense sugar cane aromas. Further processing in the Black Forest ensures excellent quality, and we can proudly say that our WOOD STORK Rum is MADE IN THE BLACK FOREST.

We add spices to our WOOD STORK Rum to give it is particular flavour: It is refined using a colourful mixture of the best spices from around the world. A touch of ginger from Australia, a hint of chilli from China. Beautifully bittersweet thanks to the combination of coffee beans from South America and bitter orange from China.  The subtle sweetness of vanilla from Asia and cocoa beans from the Ivory Coast creates a rounded, full bouquet.

And WOOD STORK Spiced Rum from the Black Forest is given that little extra by adding original Black Forest spruce and pine honey.

Very round and sensual texture. Concentrated but fine wine with aromas of black fruits, balsamic, pine needles, black pepper and hint of anise star. Fresh fruit palate marries well with soft tannins and balances acidity.
