Riso Gallo is one of the oldest rice-growing companies in Italy. The first factory, founded in Genoa in 1856, processed imported paddy rice and exported it to South America. Its success and increasing experience in the field soon encouraged Mr Frugone and Mr Preve, the company's founders, to turn their attention to the Italian crops and thus the Genoa factory was moved to Novara first, and then to Robbio Lomellina, in the heart of the Italian rice-growing region. At the same time, another factory was opened in Argentina, to meet the requirements of the South American market, and Argentina is precisely where the name Riso Gallo (Arroz Gallo) was coined. Since illiteracy was still widespread, the company decided to opt for animal symbols to identify the different rice varieties: a giraffe, a tiger, an eagle, an elephant and a cock stood out on all the packets . Soon, the cock – the animal associated with best-quality rice - became the symbol of the company itself.

We aim to offer customers healthy, safe products, but also to reduce food waste and polluting packaging.
We built a new ecologically-designed production site in 2020, with an intended line to manufacture pre-packed products. We process transformation such as caramelization and seasonings. We are able to respond to food processing industry as well.We are able to reply to various types of requests regarding packaging or channels distribution.
We are Ecocert and IFS certified.
We are not able to introduce all the references (more than 135 in bulk and 20 pre-packed + all items for food industry) on the Wabel product portfolio. Don't hesitate to contact us for a specific product.

Our products are certified organic by CCPB and accredited by EU, IFOAM, SINCERT, USDA-NOP and JAS. As a matter of fact, in the last years, new items were born that highlight the close relation of Bioitalia to its country, like the Piennolo Cherry Tomatoes (a traditional and ancient production of Vesuvius area), San Marzano PDO Whole Peeled Tomatoes, Summalava white wine, Zucchini spread, Farmer's sauce (made with typical vegetable varieties of Campania region). Moreover, our strong points are: - the voluntary certification according to the UNI EN ISO 22005:2008 standard to reach the complete "Traceability in the Food Chain" for tomato, wheat and oil. Bioitalia is one the first organic companies to take advantage of this important certification. - BPA-free lining cans for our wide range of beans and tomatoes - an extensive assortment of Organic Italian products also including Specialties from a unique supplier.
